John and Martine Wladar, began selling baked goods first to The Lab by Alchemy Coffee in Richmond, VA, then at The Farmers Market at St. Stephen's. Finally, after a little more than two years of baking for other businesses and events, They were in the process of opening Red Cap Patisserie’s first Brick and Mortar location. I was very excited to get the chance to help them redefine their branding prior to this big step in their business and also get to design their storefront!

Red Cap gets its name from the famous Phrygian or liberty caps worn during the french revolution, a nod to Martine’s Background in French Patisserie. initially they had used a historic illustration of a Phrygian cap as their logo, but they knew they wanted a more modern interpretation. We ended up creating two logo designs, one featuring a custom illustration set in concentric circles and the other featuring a graphic, Block Font.
